Something stupid I said to my friend when we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art last week and were confronted with this!
Sharks may be too awesome to be contained in a drawing. Which is maybe why this guy took a shark, stuck it in formaldehyde, and called it awesome. And called it art!
I've recently become obsessed with drawing them.
Ha ha that top right one is pretty stupid. Maybe shark will become the new gator!

i just love your blog!!! so funny!
Hey Heidi, doesn't that shark have a sign by it that says "no photographs"?
Ooooo! An experienced museum-goer! You have caught me. But not really. I didn't take the picture, I just snagged it off the internet. You know, reap the benefits of others' covert dare-devilry. :)
Also, hi Mike! Good to see you in the blogosphere!!
Those are good sharks, I'm very bad at drawing you are very talented.
Yay sharks!! I like the snaggle-toothed one especially.
(I sort of like the shark in formaldehyde, too, but I think the shark gets more credit than the artist.)
An update! I like the bottom one best. Nice lines. I don't know what it is about them that I like, but they are really appealing for some reason. And haha, that one on the right is making me laugh. :)
The new gator?... Hmm, only if they can be utilized for boot and luggage manufacture. Shark skin is a hard material to ply...
BTW, like the upper left drawing the best; nice flow with lines and line weight.
I just watched Jaws again--holy schnikies what a good film. Ends a little suddenly for my taste. There's a great John Williams tune when Brody and Hooper are investigating a shipwreck in the fog. Lots of harp, and plenty of awesome. More sharks!
And if that shark is considered art, the credited artist should be God.
